Appointments are preferred, but our friendly service tech's are very good at being fast and prompt at getting you back on the road!

The chairs feature single or dual motor styles, which enable you to attain an infinite number of positioning settings. These are Medicare reimbursable items, although they will only pay for the motor underneath if you meet criteria. OSTOMY AND UROLOGICALS

We can supply our clients with all the major brands of Ostomy and Urological products. We place our orders on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and receive shipments no more then 48 hours after ordering. Our Massachusetts distributor is fully stocked and has a 99% fill rate on all Ostomy and Urological orders. All orders placed before noon will be included in that days order and will be available for pick up in 2 days or less. We can arrange for orders to be drop shipped directly to your home if picking up at our locations is not convenient. We provide for most major insurance companies, and have started accepting Medicare/ MaineCare assignment.

SAD Lights

Seasonal Affective Disorder or “The Winter Blues”, is a depressive disorder that afflicts many people in the Northeastern United States. It’s a recurring episode that happens in late fall and can last right through to late March early April. It is felt by many scientists, that the lack of sunlight is the primary cause of this condition. Symptons include increased appetite, weight gain, and hypersomnia. An estimated 3% of the population suffer for SAD and another 14% suffer a milder form.

A SAD light is a therapy that can be used successfully in many cases to treat this problem. The light when used 15-20 minutes a morning can produce positive results in as little as 2 weeks, and in some cases can eliminate the need for prescription drugs.

HOSPITAL BEDS AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

Care giving becomes a lot easier when the right equipment is used. To easily and safely transfer a patient from one piece of equipment to another is important. Not having to worry about a patients comfort or the development of a bed sore is paramount Black Bear Medical has more combined experience (in the home medical equipment) than any other company in Maine

Hospital and specialty beds are a big part of Black Bear Medical's equipment expertise. We work hard to find the correct bed for the right application. Whether it’s a Flex-a-bed that is made to order, a barriactic bed with a 1000 pound weight capacity or a super low bed that minimizes the dangers of falling out of bed, Black Bear will guide you through this complicated process of finding a bed. Not only will BBM help find the correct bed but help you find the right mattress or support surface. It may be as simple as supplying you with a gel over lay or a complicated as a turning mattress with a low air loss feature.

Having the correct bed is one thing, but moving the patient from one place to another presents its own set of problems. If the patient is not able to assist the care giver in transferring, a manual or electric patient lift may be in order. However, these lifts are limited. Small rooms, thick carpeting, and the fact that you can not lower a patient into a bath tube make these lifts inappropriate for some patients. A ceiling lift may be the best way to safely transfer patients. These wonderful inventions can accommodate almost any room and they comes with a host of options that will allow the care giver to safely perform some the most difficult task, like toileting and bathing.
